Ninja Tune, Big Dada and Counter Records in 2009

Ninja Tune, Big Dada & Counter Records present a heavy heavy year of brand new acts and brilliant albums....!

Ninja Tune starts the year with the monstrous Qemists and their heavy mix ofbeats, drum & bass, dancehall etc - their album Join The Q is out on Feb 2nd and features Wiley, Mike Patton, Jenna G, MC Navigator and others. A complete change of pace in March with The Long Lost's beautiful debut album sees Daedelus and Laura Darlington trade tunes and songs of obsessive love and skewed light. Yppah's second album is sounding amazing and should be out in May. And Fink has steamed in with another great set of nearly finished tunes which we plan to release before summer. Other Ninja treats coming are a singles and 'bonus bait' material from Mr Scruff, an EP of searing electronics from Shuttle - a new act straight outta Boston. PLUS a host of Bonobo goodness: Live DVD, remix 10" and a killer new album in summer.

After slaying us all with Mr Manuva's album last year Big Dada come with a stunning array of new acts and albums. First the oh-so-now Diplo collection is out on 26th January, including an exclusive re-rub of MIA's Grammy-nominated "Paper Planes,". Xrabit + DMG$' "Hello World" is a dayglo mash-up of Dalston and Texas, a kind of "Three Feet High & Rising" for the nu-rave generation (out March). Two Fingers sees Amon Tobin, Doubleclick and Sway combine for some seriously dark hip hop business at the end of the same month. Already declared "the next big thing" (Time Out), Thunderheist kick off April with their freewheeling, clubbed up first album (if you haven't seen their performance outside Cargo back in December yet, then watch it here. May sees Speech Debelle come out with possibly the most significant UK hip hop debut since "Brand New Second Hand". And if all that wasn't enough, we also hope to bring you a brand new Infesticons album before summer really hurts you.

Counter Records will be presenting new artists also firstly with Spokes a Manchester band making glacial guitar music gilded with threads of folk and pop - we'll be re-issuing their 6 track album 'People Like People Like You' and then eagerly awaiting new album being recorded in Northumberland as soon as it thaws. Late Spring will see the launch of Michael Johnson's new Ape School project with which the Daedelus collaborator fills your head with angst songs, big orchestral themes, distorted guitars and strange dreams, hmmm.... Counter are also re-issuing the first two Death Set EPs together with a free bandana and The Heavy are recording their second album right now so expect more heavy voodoo soul sooooooon.
