Solid Steel Radio 30/3/2012 - Coldcut, Yppah, DJ Food

Solid Steel in association with Serato (30th March)

It's Coldcut kicking off on the downbeat with music from Massive Attack, SPMC and L-Wiz, along with the poetic vocals of Yusef Komunyakaa and The Streets. The dubstep continues with Tunnidge, Taal Mala and High Rankin, before switching with Soap and Skin and onto an African workout with Sekouba Bambino, Ikenga Super Stars Of Africa and Okoi Seka.

Yppah takes the guest mix slot and with his album Eighty One out next week, he delivers a fitting mix celebrating quality music from that year. Expect music from Gang of Four, The Cure, Gary Numan and Kraftwerk, leading nicely onto DJ Food and his seventh Kraftwerk Kover Kollection.  The full version can be heard at DJFood.org, ending a month dedicated to the band on his blog, which saw his previous Kraftwerk cover version mixes for Solid Steel go viral. Hip House, techno, electro, dubstep, reggae and Duran Duran (?) all feature in a twisted mutation of the Dusseldorf quartet's past glories.

The presented version can be heard here.
