Solid Steel Radio 25-04-14 - DJ Moneyshot, Trus'me

20 years ago Nas released his legendary Illmatic album and DJ Moneyshot has put together an outstanding tribute mix 'Nas - Half-Man Half-Amazing'. As with the previous tribute mixes for the Beastie Boys, De La Soul and Public Enemy, it's more an audio documentary threading together sample sources, interview footage and remixes alongside the original Illmatic tracks.

Hear the vocabulary, the flow and the rhythm expertly delivered by Nas, backed up by the sublime production of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Professor and Q-Tip, plus original samples from Lee Erwin, The Heath Brothers, Ahmad Jamal and Reuben Wilson. All this deconstructed and rebuilt by Moneyshot for another classic Solid Steel edition.

In Hour 2 we welcome Trus'me to Solid Steel with a perfect selection to follow the sample laden first hour. The Prime Numbers label owner delves deep as part of a series of mixes. Here in his own words;

"So as I travel around the world I always take advantage of playing any beach bar I possibly can. The 'Different Oceans' mix series gives me the excuse to search and find the records I truly desire. This particular recording was taken from my time in Byron Bay on the East Coast of Australia earlier this year. I hope this selection Inspires you to visit there someday.
