Solid Steel Radio 01-08-14 - Cooly G, DK, Technimatic

We're delighted to welcome the first lady of Hyperdub records, Cooly G to Solid Steel. The South London producer had her first release in 2008, with her debut album coming out in 2012 and has just recently done a remix for Neneh Cherry. She tells us;

"Just was having fun as usual. The intro is just a tribute to Dennis Brown which I just covered, as he is one who inspires me in music. Wanted to have my mums track added so everyone could hear her voice and production. Producing the b side for that with my dad to feat on it so my mum and dad will finally have a track released. No plans for the release, but that's what i want to do. Elements of live bongos added courtesy of Dezy da Bongo man. I hope you all enjoy and I sort a new mix again soon including new stuff off my new LP as an exclusive. Cooly G"

DK follows taking a look at some of the recent and forthcoming releases from the Ninja Tune family of labels featuring music from BNJMN, The Bug, Busdriver and Dorian Concept, plus new album tracks from FaltyDL and Moiré, and Mr. Scruff remixed by recent guest Max Graef.

Technimatic are our guests in Hour 2 celebrating the release of their new album out this week on Shogun. They had this to say about their mix; "This hour long mix gives you an idea of the stuff, outside of drum & bass, that we are really passionate about. Taking in jazz, soul, ambient and various points in between, it's a collection of the kind of music that has influenced and shaped what we make today, and that we hope has all filtered down into our debut album Desire Paths.”
