Solid Steel Radio 28-03-14 - DK, Maribou State

The latest instalment of the ferociously sharp Solid Steel is very special indeed.

The mix series that recently celebrated its 25th year of releasing the gold-standard artefacts of the DJ’s art is turning its halogen beams onto Ninja Tune itself. Solid Steel mainstay and pioneering eclecticist, DK, has put together a mix unveiling some of the latest gems from the label. We’re pleased to say that these include a first listen of Machinedrum’s stunning remix of “Runnin’” - one of the highlights of her forthcoming album.

Machinedrum’s remix can be found alongside those from Actress, Mount Kimbie, Ben Pearce, Breach, Will Saul and yet more on the special, indies-only, limited edition of KelisFood, being released in the wake of Record Store Day.

Then it's the turn of Machinedrum to be remixed by Seafloor, two from NameBrandSound, the VIP mix of "Hardcourage" from FaltyDL, a track from the forthcoming Mr Scruff album Friendly Bacteria, Teebs, classic Roots Manuva and two more for Record Store Day, from Illum Sphere and a Psych classic from The Animated Egg, released alongside If Music.

All this, plus second spins for Taraval and the Cid Rim produced Theophilus London, previous guest Moresounds, future guests Max Graef and Leon Vynehall, and music from Ferox, PhOtOmachine and Vox Populi.

In Hour 2 we welcome Maribou State to Solid Steel with a beautiful mix to take us into the weekend. There's no track list available for this mix, but you're sure to recognise some of the artists present and quality is of the highest order.
