Solid Steel Radio 08-11-13: Mr Armtone, Phill Most Chill, DJ Format

It's yet another AV mix from Mr Armtone this week for both your eyes and ears. Carefully selected visuals have been edited alongside original videos for an awesome 80 min Video Mixtape, which is available to watch in high quality on Vimeo, download on iTunes or just listen on Soundcloud. Unique to the Solid Steel radio show!

We kick straight off with the inimitable Wiley over J Beatz and tearing through heavy beats and intense imagery from Ta-ku, Sleepin Giantz, Juice Aleem and Congo Natty.

Then it's tracks from Special Request, Machinedrum production for Azelia Banks, Debruit, Om Unit, Bang On and our own Hexstatic. Classic tracks from Kool Keith, Jaydee and DJ Hype all feature and we end with the sublime "Fly like an Eagle" by Steve Miller Band.

In Hour 2 we welcome back DJ Format alongside Phill Most Chill to celebrate the release of their album The Foremost. DJ Format gives a run down of thier mix;

"Instead of doing yet another promo mix that incorporates a song or two from our new album, I thought it would be fun for me & Phill to each do a 30 minute mix of Hip Hop from our respective areas. I'm from Southampton, and since that's not a very big place I thought it would be more fitting to play some of my favourite old UK Hip Hop records. Philadelphia always had a healthy Hip Hop scene that boasted famous artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Cash Money & Marvelous and Steady B just to name a few. Phill wanted to showcase some of the more obscure/random Rap records from Philly that he loves."
