15th Anniversary of the 'Brand New Second Hand' Album

Roots Manuva - 15th Anniversary of the 'Brand New Second Hand' Album

Roots Manuva’s Brand New Second Hand arrived in 1999 with the shock of the new. Its heady brew of Rakim-influenced raps, Dub sonics and Rodney Smith's beautiful voice created a template for rap music from the UK, and made space for subsequent artists to occupy. Never before had rap music from the British Isles sounded so fresh, so assured and purposeful, and just so ear-grippingly good.

"Movements" was the song that opened that groundbreaking album, and as such was the record’s statement of intent. To celebrate the passing of 15 years since Roots Manuva’s debut album, we’ll be giving "Movements" away via Big Dada’s Soundcloud. If you’ve never heard this pivotal moment of Black, British musical history before - now is your chance. Lucky you.

Read more here and you can pick up a copy of the album from the Big Dada Shop, iTunes and Amazon.
