2009 At A Glance

2009 At A Glance

2009 is shaping up to be quite a year for us here at the Ninja camp. After the success of albums from The Bug, Daedelus, The Death Set, Ghislain Poirier, Pop Levi, Fink, The Heavy, Mr. Scruff, and Roots Manuva in 2008, we've set the bar fairly high for ourselves. But not to worry! Our release schedule for the first half of '09 might just give '08 a run for it's money...

First off, expect releases from Ninja Tune veterans such as Ghislain Poirier, Diplo, Yppah, Fink, The Death Set, and DJ Food. All of these artists have proven themselves as sonic heavyweights and fans everywhere should brace themselves for the next round. As if these releases weren't enough to aurally satisfy you, we also have two upcoming DVD releases. Both the live Bonobo DVD and the Hexstatic collection of videos, rarities, and mixes will drop in the first couple months of the new year, so keep your eyes open.

Now, for some really exciting news...

We have so many great new artists releasing albums on Ninja Tune, Big Dada, and Counter Records that it's almost hard to keep track of them all. Everyone here is really excited about all the fresh, young talent that we're unleashing onto the world and it's time that you got excited too. Under the Ninja Tune name we have releases from The Qemists, The Long Lost, Shuttle, and King Cannibal. All four of these artists are quite sonically diverse, yet somehow they're all undoubtedly Ninja.

From the Counter Records camp we have Spokes and Ape School. The youngest of our three imprints, Counter Records had some great albums last year and we're planning on expanding it's reach. For all of you who's tastes lean more towards the rock-side of things, be sure to check out the upcoming releases from Spokes and Ape School.

Finally, from Big Dada we have Speech Debelle, XRABIT + DMG$, and Thunderheist. Wow. Even though none of these albums are officially out yet, you may already have been exposed to some of their magnificence. Speech Debelle has been taking over the British airwaves and it's only a matter of time before it spreads across the Atlantic. Fresh-cut XRABIT + DMG$ have an album ready to drop that's part dirty south, part dancefloor, but all good times and great grooves. These guys have more potential than a stretched elastic band. Last, but certainly not least, we have Thunderheist. If you haven't yet heard the gospel according to Isis and Graham Zilla then you should check the zoning on the rock you've been living under because it's probably no where near cool.

Keep your eyes peeled...
