'First Fires' Video

Bonobo - 'First Fires' Video

Bonobo's The North Borders album was released a few weeks ago to a storm of critical acclaim. Building on the groundbreaking blend of bleeding edge drums and masterful, emotive melody of previous album Black Sands, The North Borders has been described as 'blending Burial like electronic swing and crackle with Krautrock Drive... Brilliant." (Q 4/5)

First Fires is the second single from the album, and the video made to accompany it is something very special indeed. Canadian born, Los Angeles raised director Alex Takacs began making videos under the moniker Young Replicant in 2008. Having directed award-winning videos for The XX, Baths and Purity Ring, he's now turned his attention to Bonobo's aching, electronic blues, which features the gorgeous, growled vocals of Grey Reverend.

Telling the story of a relationship's caustic end via a narrative reflecting the fractured nature of memory, it's the perfect illustration of  Bonobo's haunting love song.

The North Borders is out now and available to buy at the NinjashopiTunes and Amazon. You can also pre-order First Fires here.
