Solid Steel Radio 04-07-14 - Seven Davis Jr, Greymatter

We're pleased to welcome LA vocalist and producer Seven Davis Jr to Solid Steel, following releases on Must Have and Apron Records.

It's a mix themed around his next EP featuring music from Slum Village, Connan Mockasin, Kutmah and his own unreleased music including a sublime cover of the classic Sly Stone track "If you want me to stay".

This is what he had to say about his mix; "In support of the upcoming release of my Friends EP on Classic Records (July 7 2014), the subject of this mix is about a different side of friendship. Perhaps the worst, which is the awful "Friend-Zone". I dedicate this mix to anyone who is suffering from this condition. Hope this collection of songs, poems and favorite movie quotes will help ease your pain and somehow guide you out of the "Friend-Zone", for good." - SDjr

Greymatter is our guest in Hour 2 with more quality selections. His new album Visions is out now on on WOLF Music and available on 2xLP vinyl and download.

He said this about his mix; "I dug deep for the start of this Solid Steel mix and went for some deep deep disco and rare boogie oddities to set if off - Patrick Adams and Tee Scott are two of the greatest in my eyes. Then through into a couple of records that I ALWAYS play out; Ron Hardy, Damiano and Theo's GQ edit, never ever fail. Rounded off some killer new bits from Moire, Anthony Naples and Leon Vynehall."
