This is the second single from Alex Lloyd, aka new Ninja Tune signing Deco Child. S&G is an impressively layered and emotionally cathartic track. It could be melancholic but is somehow hauntingly optimistic- haunting because it stays with you long after listening. Searing warped vocals guide you through the clipped beats and emotive strings which turn into the subtly driving blissful electronica that Deco Child has been praised for. The track ends with ghostly orchestral keyboard echoes that sound almost choral.

The cryptic title is in reference to the fabled songwriters Simon and Garfunkel - Deco Child says that he was inspired by their recording practises of stamping on floors and hitting out of tune guitars- the opening percussion sounds like sampled typewriter- on repeated listening you can hear this DIY studio ethic at work.

"Diamond Drops" conjures up images of, well, diamond drops. It is a moodier affair with R'n'B inflected vocals- though no less mesmeric. With support from Lauren Laverne and Jon Kennedy on his debut release Pray and Alex currently writing and recording tracks that will feature in his new album, we are expecting big things from this young producer.

You can catch Alex DJing at Field Day Festival on the 2nd June and XOYO on the 18th June, with more dates to be confirmed.

Sunday Times- 'haunting sepulchral electronica from a one-to-watch Londoner Alex Lloyd'

Metro- 'The textures and euphoria made by Deco Child build on this shadowy, beautiful piece of electronica.'

Clash- 'Single Of The Week' 'what the young producer achieves is a remarkable state of bliss' / 'a beautiful piece of music'
