Solid Steel Radio 22/06/2012 - DK, The Cinematic Orchestra

Solid Steel in association with Serato (22nd June)

Coldcut are back this week easing in with Bim Sherman and continue with Global Communication and the minimal sounds of SCSI-9. Donovan 'Vendetta' Bennett is assisted by Roots Manuva and Rustie has a little help from the Jungle Brothers, before more selections from Arcadion, Honey Cone and Kelpe, bringing another example of The Broadest Beats.

In hour 2 we welcome Illum Sphere with an excellent mix in the true spirit of Solid Steel. A wide selection of music from the cinematic sounds of Ennio Morricone, early nineties hip hop from Triple 6 Mafia, 80's electronic synth duo Suicide and quality disco from The Lovettes. Plus Martyn, Burial and Mr De, it certainly hits the spot.

DK follows with another track from The Cinematic Orchestra presents In Motion album, this time it's Dorian Concept alongside Tom Chant. Then it's Memory9 and the Click Arp101 remix for Slugabed, before we get Afro beat flavours from Antibalas, Fela kuti and Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra, and ending the show with a killer 45 from The Touch.

The presented version can be heard here, which also features a chat with Jason Swinscoe from The Cinematic Orchestra
