Richard Kylea Cowie (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley, is perhaps the most prolific British producer, rapper and recording artist to emerge in the last 15 years. He who was one of the original founders of the Roll Deep crew, and has made pioneering music in the fields of jungle, drum & bass and UK garage music. He is credited as the originator of the grime genre, which roared out of east London in the early noughties.

Wiley's third album "Playtime is Over" on Big Dada Records, combined artistic control for Wiley with a full scale release on a recognised label. In early 2011, Wiley finally announced his return to the Big Dada label, and the release of his ultimate album and statement, "100% Publishing". This was followed less than six months later by "Evolve Or Be Extinct," perhaps his strongest and most consistent album, which went on to win the AIM Genre Award 2012.

Wiley remains one of the biggest characters and wildest talents in British music. Whether helping younger artists break through (Dizzee, Chipmunk, Tinchy) offloading hundreds of unreleased tracks on Twitter, rowing with detractors or doling out private insights on the web – he is always in the studio. Ultimately a workaholic, he’s the kind of artist one can imagine making groundbreaking, avant-garde music well into his old age. A true maverick and an artist in the truest sense of the word, in between working with Big Dada, Wiley has released three top ten singles, including "Wearing My Rolex" and UK number 1, "Heatwave.

North Carolina-born artist Travis Stewart known as Machinedrum has produced and composed over a dozen albums under various aliases since his first independent release in 1999. Covering an astonishing variety of styles with ease, through solo Machinedrum work and with collaborative projects Sepalcure, JETS, Dream Continuum, or other mutations, Stewart has established himself as electronic music's true Renaissance man.

His debut as Machinedrum Now You Know, was released in 2001 on pioneering Miami-based Merck Records and gained worldwide attention and praise from musicians, fans and critics. Having a strong background in both acoustic and electronic instrumentation, he was quickly able to navigate those various elements on his early releases from field recording and vintage synth laden Urban Biology to his seminal production and mixing of This Charming Mixtape with MC Theophilus London and his critically acclaimed 2009 album Want To 1 2? 2010's Many Faces EP ushered the next phase of Machinedrum's career and a fruitful relationship with Glasgow-based label LuckyMe. Sepalcure, a duo launched with Praveen Sharma shortly after, became one of the most intriguing names in the bass music scene and a series of releases on bubbling imprint Hotflush has given the duo NYC ambassadorship of this UK-based genre.

Relocating to Berlin for a few years, Machinedrum maintained a steady flow of releases including the Alarmaa and SXLND EPs with LuckyMe and the critically-acclaimed Room(s) LP on Planet Mu Records, a fresh new exploration of juke, jungle, and drum&bass that garnered high praise across the music world.

The dance floor blitzkrieg JETS, his latest project with longtime collaborator Jimmy Edgar has kept him ahead of the curve once again, serving as yet another showcase for his musical evolution.

His biggest and boldest release came last year in the form of the full-length LP Vapor City on famed label Ninja Tune, a conceptual universe which included an interactive website, digital citizenship program for fans, and an art exhibit in NYC that launched with the album. With subsequent EPs, exclusive remixes from a series of heavyweights, and a critically-acclaimed world tour, Vapor City carried on his rich exploration of multimedia arts and music.

Delivering his signature on every thing he touches, through each solo album and EP, collaborations, or production work for the likes of Azealia Banks, Jamie Liddell, Jesse Boykins III and others, Machinedrum is now widely recognized as a producer's producer, a pioneer of many styles, and a master of his craft.

He has since gone on to record seven critically- acclaimed albums under his own name on Ninja that have since helped define the label as a force in musical innovation and diversity. In addition, Amon has produced a small number of radically diverse original scores ranging from George Palfi's cult cinema oddity 'Taxidermia' to Tom Clancy's video game blockbuster 'Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory'.

The depth and scope of Amon Tobin's work have had a far-reaching influence, garnering respect amongst producers and artists both within and outside electronic music. Documented on film, the process of recording minute insects to lions, wolves, engines and foley performances culminated in a much- lauded performance at the birthplace of musique concrete, the GRM Theatre in Paris. More recently, the famed London Metropolitan Orchestra performed selected works from a cross-section of his musical repertoire at the Royal Albert Hall. The performance included a piece from his forthcoming studio album due for release in early 2011.

Amon Tobin will release 3 albums in 2011: a radical new studio album entitled 'ISAM', a new Two Fingers album, and an album of remixes of his 'Chaos Theory' soundtrack work.

An experimental and self taught singer and songwriter originally hailing from South East London, Andreya Triana grew up submerged in a multicultural atmosphere. A unique vocalist, Andreya began singing at the tender age of 7, taking influence from the sights and sounds of inner city London. Her early love and passion for music would see her locked in her bedroom for hours on end writing poetry, making homemade mix tapes and recording tracks - utilising two battered cassette decks to record harmonies. Her early love of improvisation would warp and change over the years, hugely influencing her 'Freeflo Sessions' - a hypnotic one woman show using a sampler to loop vocals, percussive sounds and beats live. To date she has taken her Freeflo Sessions worldwide, dazzling audiences far and wide with her cutting edge and soulful performances.

2006 saw her selected from thousands to take part in the Red Bull Music Academy in Australia where she further developed her style for improvisation and secured links with some of the best producers and musicians on the music scene. Multiple collaborations ensued daily at the Academy, with 'Tea Leaf Dancers', a collaboration with glitchy hip hop producer Flying Lotus (released on Warp Records), was a product of this and has been her most successful musical venture to date. Hailed as a classic while getting rave reviews from Benji B and Gilles Peterson while getting airplay on Annie Mac's Radio One show, it was this track that also caught the attention of Ninja Tune stalwart Bonobo.

2009 has been an eventful year for Miss Triana, touring America and Canada with the Bonobo live band, playing on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury showcasing new material and signing a three album deal with Ninja Tune Records. 2010 saw the release of her album 'Lost Where I Belong', produced by Bonobo, with fellow Ninja Tune singer and songwriter Fink also stepping up to co-write two tracks for the album. 'Lost Where I Belong' is a beautifully honest album combining Soul, Folk, Jazz and Bonobo's cinematic magic in a highly anticipated and hotly tipped debut... watch out for Andreya Triana!

The Death Set, from Brooklyn, originally hails from The Gold Coast, Australia. It was here where Johnny Siera met co-founding member Beau Velasco in 2005. Drawn to one another’s reckless care of music, the duo united to write fleeting songs with lifelong hooks and overdriven melody. Hell-bent on recording and touring, The Death Set moved the U.S. originally to the gnarly streets of Baltimore then to Philadelphia then finally to Brooklyn.
Buoyed by the DIY network they found there, the band recorded and released the To (2006, Rabbit Foot) and Rad Warehouses Bad Neighborhoods (2007, Morphius) EPs, honing the noise of jury-rigged gear and overblown mics. The Death Set quickly became known for out-of-hand live shows, and carried that energy onto its first full-length recording, done at The Copy Cat in Baltimore, an artist warehouse studio where the band and many others lived at the time.

The Death Set’s debut album, Worldwide, on Counter Records came in 2008 and fully filled twenty-five minutes with eighteen breakneck songs. Produced, engineered and mixed by Siera at The Copy Cat, with further mixing by Rob Girardi at Lord Baltimore Studios, Worldwide boaseds the endearing sound of unrefined creation. From the timeless call-to-upraise-arms of “Negative Thinking”, through the rallying anthem of “Intermission”; the love-buzz of “Heard It All Before” along the serrated edge of “Cold Teeth”; through the wistful chime of “Had A Bird”, and the high-voiced androgyny of “Day In The Wife”; The Death Set exploits consonance to the fullest. “Around the World” enters enemy dancespace, while “Listen To This Collision” puts crowds on a crash course with each other.

With the addition of Jahphet "Roofeeo" Landis on drums (who has toured with Santigold, Spankrock, Amanda Blank, and Ninjasonik) and fellow Aussie expat Dan Walker on guitar, vocals and production, the trio set about touring and destroying all types of stages all over the world. From massive festivals like Fuji Rock in Japan and Dour in Belgium to DIY spaces to Parisian basements. The Death Set have found touring partners and friends in Girl Talk, Bonde Do Role, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik ,Japanther, Best Fwends, Dan Deacon, Ponytail and many more.

While The Death Set’s sound is most like that of its punk influencers -- Black Flag, Minor Threat, and Buzzcocks – it also bears the distinct mark of hip-hop and electronic styles in production, and as interludes in their raucous offstage outbursts. The band were touted as the #1 biggest hope of the future by NME, “Best Live Band” by the Baltimore City Paper, The Death Set jams blindsiding minute-songs into compact spaces.

Which brings us to The Death Set’s new sophomore album, Michel Poiccard, which sadly comes prefigured by tragedy. Just as the pair were about to embark on writing a new album together, Velasco, who had struggled with drug addiction on and off throughout his life, died of an overdose. The band were shattered, so much so that Johnny still finds it almost impossible to talk about. It wouldn’t have been surprising if the group had decided to call it a day. Relocating to Brooklyn and enlisting long time friend and Baltimore associate XXXchange (Spank Rock, Kele, The Kills) to man the desk, they created Michel Poiccard, an album which loses none of the charm of their previous “punk spazz” work but adds considerable depth, both in terms of the punch and bottom end that XXXchange brings to the table, and in terms of a sense of desperate loss or longing, which permeates everything on the record and reaches a considerable pinnacle on “I Miss You Beau Velasco” and the closer “Is It The End Again?”

There are songs here about mammoth Ecstasy binges (“Chew It Like A Gun Gum”), Beasties-like celebrations of arcane handshakes (first single, “Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Snap”) affirmations of relying on positivity thoughout the roughest of times "We Are Going Anywhere Man", a celebration of one of the stars of A Bout De Souuffle (“Michel Poiccard (She Yearns For The Devil)”), tales of smashed equipment and angry promoters (“Can You Seen Straight?”), with a dose of familiar, snotty, punk anthems about French girls with a penchant for taking it up the shitter (“I Like The Wrong Way”). Diplo drops in for a fight and ends up giving them a keyboard line for “Yo David Chase!”. Spank Rock guests on “7PM Woke Up An Hour Ago”. Yes, all of them are instilled with the same manic Ritalin-and –Sunny-D-induced energy of their earlier records, but it feels like something deeper has happened here, too.

Above it all floats the spirit of Beau Velasco, amused and laconic. Words of his were rescued from samplers and old ProTools sessions so that it is his voice that opens the record with words which could serve as the group’s mission statement, perhaps never so fully realised: “I wanna take this tape and blow up ya fuckin’ stereo!”

Ema Jolly, a musician and performer also known as Emika, has a geographical track record as diverse as they come. Born in the UK of Czech heritage, she spent many musically formative years in Bristol before relocating to the equally rich sonic landscape of Berlin. Emika takes all of her roots and melds them, lending context to her narrative-driven music.

Classically trained in piano and composition, she went on to study music technology at university and worked as a sound designer before pursuing music-making full-time, a career that now manifests in the writing, producing and mixing of all of her own work. Despite her self-described "nerdy," studio-based background, she notes a major shift in her recent output evolving from the isolated nature of her self-titled debut LP to a more interactive and freewheeling piece of work in this year's acclaimed DVA, an opus dreamt up in her Berlin apartment and created entirely herself.

The character of her performances has seen an evolution as well; she excitedly describes the interaction between her sound technician, light technician and choreographer which shapes the live show she's taken worldwide. Emika emphasises the live value of her performances: she and her small crew improvise together for each show, with the result becoming totally unpredictable and a very real response to the audience at hand.

Emika describes her music somewhere at the conjunction between "futuristic storytelling, club context and classical influences"--and it's caught the attention of a slew of collaborators including Tommy Four Seven, Pinch, Nick Hoppner, Paul Frick, Brand Brauer Frick, Amon Tobin and Marcel Dettman (with whom she co-produced a song for his forthcoming record).

After spending a good part of the year travelling everywhere from America to Ukraine, this autumn will see her embark on her first headline tour in Russia, in addition to a number of gigs across Europe. As long as she continues to push her unique singer-songwriter-meets-Berghain sound, there's no sign of slowing down.
