Hailing from Toronto, Jordan Gardner’s eclectic sound melds the futuristic and soulful melodies of Detroit and Chicago with global club sounds. He is also half of the DJ/production duo ÈBONY with partner Sylvermayne. Their style hybridizes multiple eras and regions of dance music from the futurist perspective of Detroit techno to the soulful melodies of Chicago and South Africa.

Releasing since 2021, Gardner’s 2023 EP ‘Rhythm Acceleration’ was released via Carousel Soul – the imprint of legendary club/venue Cake Shop in Seoul, South Korea. That collection featured a collab with Martyn Bootyspoon (Fractal Fantasy / Fools Gold) – the musical persona of Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist Jason Voltaire. Bootyspoon aka the “Rave Lethario” has carved out a unique sounding space in the sweat-soaked worlds of raw Ghetto House and experimental club sounds in recent years, assisted by his razor sharp sense of fun and slick productions.

“The vocal samples on ‘Doubletap’ were originally voice notes from a friend who makes pop records,” explains Gardner. “Bootyspoon and I had just worked together on the title track Rhythm Acceleration from my previous EP, and I love his style of ad libs on dancefloor tracks. He's a really good producer so he understands exactly how to let his vocals sit. We recorded his vocals in Jacques Greene’s studio. Then it was mixed down by my friend Francis – a hitmaker in Montreal that goes by Priori.” Bootyspoon – in typically poetic style – adds, “When Jordan asked to feature my vocals on his stellar deep-jack track, I agreed. Its late-night allure allowed me to transpose the instrumental from a Basic Instinct church-rave scene to a Hype Williams nightclub”.
