A cast of friends and extended family rework compositions from Jaga Jazzist’s ninth studio album “Pyramid” (2020), a record that saw the legendary Norwegian eight-piece take a deep dive into post-rock, jazz and psychedelia influences. Cosmic disco royalty Lindstrøm, Prins Thomas and OKIOK bring the club-ready heat. Meanwhile, André Bratten (Smalltown Supersound), OKR of Once And Future Band, Ian Chang (City Slang), Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote) and Petter Eldh veer off to the left into more experimental territory with stunning results.
Swedish-born and Berlin-based, Petter is an extraordinary bassist and producer who has played and collaborated with Jameszoo, Christian Lillinger, Beatrice Dillon, Kit Downes as well as his own Koma Saxo quintet. Most recently he released “Projekt Drums Vol.1” via Edition Records.
“I first heard Jaga at the Roskilde Festival back in the early 2000s,” explains Petter Eldh. “The gig was an early afternoon slot so my mind hadn’t been chemically/organically altered yet. I was knocked to the ground! Sensory overload! Their music had a mind-altering ability on its own. Exhilarating! Martin and Lars are a big inspiration in my own endeavours in mixing electronic soundscapes and acoustic instruments. To sit with all the stems from ‘Pyramid’ was like walking around in the most imaginative and fun theme park. Hopefully, someone will experience that good old sensory overload listening to my take on Jaga!”
Furthermore, as bands and musicians are gearing up to get back on the road, Jaga Jazzist are planning to leave Earth altogether in a groundbreaking live stream on 7th December at 8pm CET. Directed by Haakon Mathisen (VIERLIVE), it promises to be an extraordinary cinematic live performance, live streamed from inside the heart of a throttling spaceship (https://vier.live/act/jaga-jazzist-leaving-earth)
“Pyramid Remix” is released digitally on 5th November via Brainfeeder. A limited edition yellow vinyl 2LP with artwork by Martin Kvamme follows on 19th November (3rd Dec in North America).
