Solid Steel Radio 29/03/2013 - FaltyDL, Hextatic & Richard Dorfmeister
Solid Steel (29th March) We open with Ninja Tune artist FaltyDL and a mix of fine tracks starting with the wonderful 'Love me like this' by Floating Points and into an unreleased cut from the man himself. Then it's the first of two tracks from Mr Richard D James, as AFX on Rephlex to start and Pulsewidth as Aphex Twin later. In between there's music from Theo Parrish, Luke Vibert, MFSB and Moodymann, plus some afrobeat magic from Tony Allen.
Robin from Hexstatic is up next with the new track 'Cirrus' from Bonobo (check the amazing video) and into a new release from the ever lush Lusine on Ghostly International. Some nice house action from Huxley and Soul Reazon and then new fav Dusky with 'What I Need'. Waze and Odyssey pump it up party style and then into the classic voice of Robert Owens brought up to date by Mosca, before closing with a great booty of Lauryn Hill switching the lyrics up from Golden Boy.
Our 25th Anniversary slot this week features Richard Dorfmeister who appeared on the show in 2003 and featured many times as one half of Kruder and Dorfmeister, as well as his project Tosca with Rupert Huber, amongst others. Opening with ECM artist Steve Tibbetts, his mix floats between Gui Boratto, his own lush edit for Selah Sue, acoustic guitar of Jeb Loy Nichols and the dubbed out Rhythm & Sound featuring Cornell Campbell on vocals. He then weaves through Pat Metheney, the dub version of Sunset from Grace Jones' last album, blues from Ry Cooder and ending with a couple of tracks from his recent Tosca album 'Odeon'.
