Singer-songwriter, producer and DJ Elkka returns with new single ‘I Just Want To Love You’, a house-leaning love song that came at a time when the London-based artist needed something beyond words to express her love and appreciation.

The track out via Ninja Tune samples the late John Martyn’s ‘Small Hours’, a song with a rich sentimental history to Elkka and her partner, photographer Alexandra Lambert. Woven deeply into the fabric of both their relationship and their respective families, it was only after numerous attempts that Elkka finally received permission to use the 1977 original, discovering in the process that the song held a similar position of personal importance to John Martyn and his partner. The resulting track ‘I Just Want To Love You’, and the accompanying visuals shot by Lambert, are a collaborative testament to love in all its forms.

Entering a new phase of her musical career, Elkka channels her skills as an award nominated producer and accomplished singer on ‘I Just Want To Love You’, presenting the full package. Its mesmerising production paired with ethereal vocals fully immerse the listener into the realm of her creative and technical ability to deliver euphoric, moving dance music with real meaning. Elkka says, “At the heart of it, I hope it will be a soundtrack for everyone and anyone to have the freedom to express their love - whether it's romantic, between friends or a mother and daughter. Everyone deserves to be loved.” The accompanying visuals by her partner Alex Lambert perfectly aligns with the spirit of the track, beautifully capturing loving moments between people.

‘I Just Want To Love You’ is Elkka’s first solo outing of 2022, following on from her EP ‘Harmonic Frequencies’. Deciding to take full artistic control over her music, Elkka made the shift from singer-songwriter to multifaceted artist producing, performing and writing everything herself. At the same time she founded her record label, femme culture born out of the desire to champion women in the arts and push forward-thinking music standing for inclusivity amongst all genders, backgrounds and beliefs, and actively promotes collaboration in all fields. The label’s annual HeForShe compilation in aid of U.N. Women has garnered critical success and featured the likes of Octo Octa, Anz, and DJ Python.

Elkka’s momentum continues to propel her to new heights - aptly fuelled by a silo of authentically danceable music; to date, her work has been supported by Four Tet, Floating Points, Jon Hopkins, SHERELLE, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and many more. She was awarded BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year, Radio 1 Introducing Artist Of The Year, AIM Independent Remix of the Year and nominated for Breakthrough Producer of The Year in the DJ Mag Awards. She’s gone on to release two EPs on Ninja Tune imprint Technicolour, and do remixes for Kelly Lee Owens, Sigrid, and Ela Minus, and supported Caribou on his 2021 UK tour. This summer has seen Elkka play a slew of festival dates such as Glastonbury, All Points East, Lost Village, Wide Awake and Standon Calling to name a few before she hits Warehouse Project this November, bringing her high-energy DJ sets and encapsulating live shows to audiences across Europe.
