Rapper and singer Smino hails from St Louis and co-founded the collective Zero Fatigue with Bari, Monte Booker, Jay2, and Ravyn Lenae. He is also one third of the group Ghetto Sage, with Saba and Noname. Guapdad 4000 (aka Shia LaBustDown, aka the Ferragamo Falcon, aka the Valentino Viper, aka the Gucci Goat, aka the Armani Army Admiral, aka Prada Pootie Tang) is an LA-based rapper, singer, creative, and self-confessed anime addict, a kindred spirit to Thundercat. Both artists are in the hip-hop supergroup Zoink Gang alongside JID and Buddy.
‘Dragonball Durag’ served as the second single from the album “It Is What It Is”, with a video directed by Zack Fox including cameos from HAIM, Kali Uchis, and comedian Quinta Brunson.
The remix comes during a monumental year for Thundercat. “It Is What It Is” already landed on numerous “Albums of the Year So Far” lists including Billboard, Rolling Stone, Complex, Bandcamp Daily, NPR, Paste (#15) and Stereogum (#15). His visage has graced the covers of The Wire, Brick, and London In Stereo. Featuring musical contributions from Flying Lotus, Childish Gambino, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, Steve Lacy, Steve Arrington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole, and Zack Fox, “It Is What It Is” serves as the follow-up to Thundercat’s game-changing third album Drunk (2017) – the record that completed his transition from virtuoso bassist to bonafide star and cemented his reputation as a unique voice that transcends genre.
