Amsterdam-based duo Weval (made up of Harm Coolen & Merijn Scholte Albers) share a new single “Forever” which quickly follows recent single "Never Stay For Love" featuring Dutch singer-songwriter Eefje de Visser. “Forever” sees the duo lean on driving electronica, featuring a steadily pulsing bassline, a bubbling arpeggio of synths and Harm’s dulcet vocals to tie the highly textured track together.

“The way in which many ideas from us come together is by combining different demos with each other.” says Weval. “So we had made this beat that became an acid dj’ish track, and recorded the vocal for a different demo. We ended up sampling our own work and felt it just clicked and fit together in this way. It’s so fun to mash up ideas that in themselves had a completely different life and distinct energy to them. So it feels sometimes we end up with something that we wouldn’t be able to do from one linear process.”

Weval are well known amongst peers and critics for their beautifully composed melodies and songwriting. Previous press coverage includes impressive support from Pitchfork, Billboard, The Line of Best Fit, Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Mixmag, Clash, SPIN, Brooklyn Vegan, Crack Magazine, Dummy, Magnetic Mag, The Vinyl Factory and more. Radio highlights include a live performance at the historic Maida Vale studio for BBC Radio 1’s Residency series (alongside artists such as Moderat, Darkstar, Gold Panda, Jessy Lanza and AKASE, plus support from the likes of Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft, KEXP, KCRW, Beats In Space and many more. Their music has been featured in TV shows Good Girls, Industry, and the HBO hit drama I May Destroy You by Michaela Coel. Weval have performed with their five-piece live band to emphatic festival crowds at Primavera Sound, Sonar Festival Istanbul, DGTL Amsterdam, Lightning In A Bottle, OSHEAGA, Lost Village, Lowlands, Down The Rabbit Hole, Best Kept Secret and many more. They have also sold out headline shows at Royal Concertgebouw and Paradiso in Amsterdam and performed alongside Mount Kimbie for their DJ Kicks show in 2018.

“Forever” is out now on Technicolour, with more music coming soon.
