Shaking Things Up
by nimino

— Released 23rd January 2025 on Counter Records

Today, buzzing UK producer nimino starts off 2025 with the release of a lively new single “Shaking Things Up”, following the massive success of his viral hit “I Only Smoke When I Drink”. nimino is shaking up the new year (pun intended) with his bouncy electronic tune that samples a soul record.

2025 is set out to be nimino’s biggest year yet, with Amazon Music naming him one of their Artists To Watch for the year complete with a NOTION digital magazine cover and billboards in New York City’s Times Square and London’s Leicester Square. BBC Radio 1 aired his Essential Mix earlier this month and Tomorrowland included him in 20 of 2025 - a carefully curated list of the 20 most promising artists to watch this year.

Initially blowing up on TikTok and now with 90M+ streams since its release in August,  “I Only Smoke When I Drink” has catapulted nimino into a world of streaming and radio accolades. Charting for 20 consecutive weeks on the Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Chart (currently at a new peak this week at #16), the single has also spent 12 weeks on the official UK Singles Chart (peaking at #48), moved up to the BBC Radio 1 A list, and amassed over 350K Shazams since its release. Billboard named it one of the best Dance Songs of 2024, Wonderland has it on repeat, Diplo is rinsing it in his sets, and Music Ally included it as one of the Best Music Marketing Campaigns of the year. The accompanying music video features notable UK actors Calam Lynch (Bridgerton, SweetPea & LOTR: The Rings of Power) and Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor). The track recently received new renditions from Claptone, Badger, Felix Cartal, and REMY QUINN.

Following a sold-out homecoming show at London’s XOYO Club – which concluded a completely sold out North American headline tour with stops at Racket in New York City, The Great Northern in San Francisco, and El Rey in Los Angeles – nimino will continue on a run of US shows including Nashville, Austin and Orlando before appearing at Dot to Dot Festival in Bristol and Nottingham in May. Equipped with two unique performances depending on the venue—a freeform DJ set for clubs and pop-ups and a finely crafted live show complete with custom visuals he created himself—nimino effortlessly bounces between vivid dance-floor grooves and powerful, emotive moments.
